Abstract
Learning the contents of Social Sciences in primary education usually presents difficulties for the students due to the fact that the didactic strategies used by the teachers are not motivating.
The objective of this research is to demonstrate that the theater is an effective didactic resource for learning history. The methodology used is semi-experimental, using a pretest and a posttest. The participants are two groups of students from the 6th year of primary education at a school in Villajoyosa (Alicante).
During the learning situation, theater is used in one of the experimental groups, while the other group acts as a control. The results indicate that students acquire basic knowledge more easily through the use of theater.
