Abstract
In this report, the characteristics assumed by the artisanal production process in Venezuela during the colonial period are studied. The analysis focuses on typifying and characterizing the production units in aspects such as capital, administration, inputs, techniques, quality control and product. In this sense, three types of artisan production units have been identified, which include shops-workshops; the pottery and tannery forges; finally, the farm. The study is based on the review of the original and unpublished documentation that rests in the archives, the variables expressed are analyzed and the results are presented.
