Peer review policy

Once the editor and the Editorial Committee receive the article, the author will be immediately notified of its receipt to monitor the process. The article will be submitted through the journal's OJS page or via email to jorgevidovic@edicionesclio.com.

The review or evaluation of the article and its publication will proceed in three phases or stages:

PHASE 1: Internal Review or Pre-Review, within a period of two (2) weeks.
The correspondence between citations and references, the thematic compatibility of the article with the different sections of the journal, as well as plagiarism control and verification using web-based software, will be checked. The author will be informed about the acceptance or rejection to continue in the arbitration process.

PHASE 2: External Review, within a period of four (4) weeks,
This will involve the inclusion of two external peers (national or international) as evaluators of the article under a double-blind modality. In case of disagreement in the evaluation, a third evaluator will be assigned to resolve the discrepancies. These specialists will make observations and issue a decision in terms of:
(a) Accepted for publication,
(b) Accepted pending corrections, or
(c) Not accepted for publication.

The arbitration process will consider the following criteria:
a) Demonstrated knowledge mastery;
b) Scientific rigor;
c) Theoretical and methodological foundation;
d) Timeliness and relevance of the consulted sources;
e) Contributions to existing knowledge; and
f) Quality of writing and proper use of grammatical norms, in accordance with the language used (English or Spanish).

The reviewers’ evaluation format includes two main parameters: Formal or Presentation Criteria and Content Criteria, which will be assessed on a scale expressing the values: EXCELLENT, VERY GOOD, GOOD, AVERAGE, DEFICIENT.

Formal or Presentation Criteria:

  1. Originality, relevance, and appropriate length of the title;
  2. Clarity and coherence of the discourse;
  3. Proper preparation of the abstract: Objective, methodology, results, and keywords;
  4. Internal organization of the text.

Content Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated knowledge mastery;
  2. Scientific rigor;
  3. Theoretical and methodological foundation;
  4. Timeliness and relevance of the consulted sources;
  5. Contributions to existing knowledge.

Once the article has been arbitrated, the publication decision will be communicated via email to the corresponding author(s). If adjustments to the article are required (Accepted pending corrections), the author(s) will have a maximum of 10 days to make the adjustments (this period is part of the 4 weeks of Phase 2) and must submit a new version of the document along with a letter responding to each of the reviewers’ suggestions/observations. It is the authors’ responsibility to comply with all the suggestions and recommendations provided; if there are disagreements, they must inform and argue their position. The editor decides whether the modified article is sent back to the same assigned peer reviewers to request their final approval. Upon receiving the comments, concepts, or corrections, the editor, together with the Editorial Committee, makes the final decision to Accept for Publication or Not Accept, as applicable.

If the article is Accepted for publication (with no corrections or minimal corrections), the authors must provide:
(a) A letter stating that the suggestions provided by the reviewers have been incorporated, if applicable;
(b) The final versions of the article in Spanish or English, according to the authors’ preference;
(c) Authorization to the journal’s Editorial Committee for the reproduction of the text with the authors’ signatures; and
(d) The authors’ identification data for the journal’s respective database (ORCID ID, full names, and email addresses).

In any case, the editor and the Editorial Committee reserve the right to accept or reject articles. Rejected articles (Not accepted for publication) will be notified to their authors via email. Acceptance of the article for publication implies the transfer of reproduction and dissemination rights by any means to the journal.

PHASE 3: Once the article is accepted, the final editing and layout process begins, lasting three (3) weeks, through the following steps:
(a) The editor sends the accepted material for publication,
(b) Style correction in Spanish and/or English when required,
(c) Sending the corrected material back to the authors,
(d) Authors send back the verified material with suggestions to the editor, who then forwards it to the publisher,
(e) Typesetting and layout of the material, which is also sent to the authors by the editor; DOI assignment, and
(f) Publication of the material in electronic format on the journal’s platform or website.
